Allen Schiff is the Managing Member of Schiff & Associates, LLC (S&A). Prior to forming S&A, Allen was a Partner with Smart and Associates and was their Practice Leader for Dental Practice Management Services. Allen has over 30 years of expertise in the areas of medical and dental practice management. He provides clients with services in the areas of business planning to include obtaining financing, succession planning, exit strategies and long-range planning. In addition, Allen has assisted physicians and dentists with practice acquisitions, start-ups as well as operational analysis. Previously, Allen had been with Grabush, Newman & Co., P.A. since 1975, which combined with Smart and Associates in 2003. Allen received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Baltimore in June 1975 and is an accomplished speaker on topics such as dental practice management, business planning, choosing a CPA, obtaining financing, identifying fraud in the workplace, business start ups, and reading and understanding financial statements. Allen has published numerous articles regarding the health care industry and can frequently be seen in the Baltimore Business Journal, as he is a contributing writer to the newspaper. Allen is the author of the "Tax Ramifications of Selling A Dental Practice Sole Proprietorship, Partnership or Corporation". In 1998, Allen earned the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), having the expertise to resolve allegations of fraud, obtain evidence, take statements, write reports, testify to findings and assist in the detection and prevention of fraud and white-collar crime. Allen is a founding member of the Academy of Dental CPAs (ADCPA). This group of CPA firms across the nation specializes in practice management services to the dental industry. He serves on the ADCPA Executive Committee and is Chairperson of the ADCPA Marketing Committee. The ADCPA combines its outstanding resources and expertise to share information and jointly develop resources to better serve the dental community. In 2003, Allen was appointed to the Exhibit Advisory Committee for the Maryland State Dental Association's Annual Chesapeake Dental Conference. |
